Jesus Christ conquers in love.

This is the truth that must define who we are as his people and I believe it so strongly, it’s tattooed on my arm.

When we look at the state of the world today, it is easy to feel divided or overwhelmed by the noise, to try and be gatekeepers when there is only one who Scripture says holds that job. For those of us that follow, we are called to something much greater.

As disciples of Jesus, we are not here to win arguments or assert our own agendas. We are here to reflect the heart of a Savior who reached across every divide to bring us home.

True unity in the body of Christ does not mean we all think the same, but it does mean we are all moved by the same sacrificial love and the same desire to drive others… and ourselves… toward the one who conquers in love. It is time for us to lay down our labels and pick up our towels, serving our neighbors with a kindness that is impossible to ignore.

For the Church, when the world sees us walking in genuine love, putting others before ourselves and standing together in grace, they do not just see a group of people. They see a glimpse of the Kingdom.

So, let’s be a community that does not just talk about love, but acts on it as we serve with hands that are open and hearts that are united, proving that the greatest power on earth is the love of Jesus working through us.

All else fades in the light of this task as we come together across our differences to be Christ-centered and Christ-like in a world that desperately needs the community of the Church to reflect the One who calls us.

“He asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12:28b-31
