whitehouseYesterday, as I posted a photo of a card we received from the White House congratulating us on our adoption, I realized that an update was in order!

As many of you liked the post you, no doubt, wondered if this meant that our adoption has been finalized and done. The direct answer to that question is: “no.”

The longer answer to that question is “it’s on its way.” We’ve been approved by the county committee, but the paperwork is still in process. Once everything has been processed, sometime in the next few weeks (perhaps longer, depending on the system), we’ll get a court date and finalize everything.

This is not the shortest process, even once the paperwork begins being processed. The paperwork does not just make things “official.” There will be a new social security number created and a new birth certificate issued, which both take some time. Throw in that we are one of many families waiting on the exact same thing, you can imagine that it can move at tortoise speed. The important thing to remember is that, with lots of patience, the tortoise won the race in the end.

We are excited to introduce our boy to you all, officially. Almost as excited as he is to meet all of you (seriously, my introversion can’t keep up with the level of “extrovert” that comes from him!).

Thank you for your prayers, thoughts, questions, hopes, and excitement! We’ve felt all of it and are only here because of the great support of family and friends. We’re thankful for each and every one of you.

We look forward to sharing more in the weeks to come: we’re in the final stretch!
