Five months ago we discovered a boy looking for a forever family through a post shared by Seven Homes. We contacted our Agency (Children’s Home Society) to inquire about more information about him. Two weeks later we met him, and two months later he moved in. Now we’re just under three weeks from being able to begin processing our legal forms to adopt him.
It is organizations like Seven Homes that connect children, like ours, to the families (and roots) they need.
This year, just one week from Christmas, Seven Homes has reported that there are 17 children whose North Carolina counties are not able to provide gift assistance for children. Gift assistance is given to children in foster care to make sure that, though they’re not with their biological-or potential adoptive- family at Christmas this year, people still do care for them.
The county that our son came to us from contacted us a few weeks ago to let us know that, due to funding, they would not be able to provide gift assistance for us either. Luckily, our agency was able to help and our son will know that people do care and Christmas comes, even in the uncertainty of life. Not everyone has the connection to another agency like we do.
If you are able to help at all, please consider it. $25 provides a gift for at least one of these 17 children. Help make their Christmas more hopeful and grace-filled.
