A lot of you have been asking us for an update over the past few weeks and things have been too crazy to sit down and type one out- but here you go!
The move to our new home went well and our current children (Maggie & Widget) have adjusted well and are really enjoying the parks and sidewalks just outside the house!
Last week, we finished unpacking the last box and have finally gotten the “kid-friendly” bedrooms set back up. The rooms are a little bigger than the last ones, so we’re excited about that (and the bigger backyard!).
As far as the process goes, we’re right around the 9 month mark in the ‘official’ part of our journey. 9 months ago we submitted our application to our agency and jumped head-first into the craziness that is foster-to-adopt.
We had our fire inspection done of the new house earlier this week (it passed!) and will need a new inspection by our new case worker after our license is approved by the state. Speaking of, we’d really appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we wait for that approval. In many ways, our journey is at a “stand-still” until that license is approved, so we’re very anxiously awaiting news from that end.
That being said, our agency has approved us to work with them and we’ve been able to start receiving information about potential placements. That, in of itself, is a tough part of all of this. Please pray for us as we navigate that as well.
All-in-all, we’re excited and hopeful as we enter month 9 of this journey. This is not a sprint, but a life-long marathon, and we’re thankful to be on this race together.
If you could be praying specifically:
- That our license will be approved soon! We know we’re closer than ever to hearing back (there is an approval time-table and we’re nearing the end of it).
- For us as we continue to transition (in multiple ways) in our work, home and church life.
- For that/those child(ren) that we will one day join on their journey of life.
- For all of the children that are in the foster care system, the case workers that are over-loaded but passionate about what they do, and for those that have decided to explore the tough, crazy, awesome journey that is becoming foster and/or adoptive parents. (If you’re considering it at all and have questions, please let us know!)
Thank you for joining us on this journey and for your continued support. It’s felt and needed!
With love,
L&H

Since we had pictures of the rooms before, here’s what the new ones look like! They’re just waiting on the personal decorating touch of their future inhabitant(s)!
